DETAILS OF THE SERVICE

The battery is responsible for providing the electric power needed to start the engine and accessories of the car. Minimal attention and a periodic review of the car’s battery will guarantee its correct operation and will delay the change of battery.

HOW DOES A BATTERY WORK?

A battery stores electrical energy in electrochemical form to provide it on demand of the vehicle. It is based on a loading / unloading system in which a liquid stores electricity in the form of electrons that it loses progressively when a current is established.

All the components of a vehicle work thanks to the electric power of the battery, from the headlights or the turn signals, to the engine that turns the wheels of the car. The operation of the motor allows the battery to continue recharging continuously.

In a battery we find a series of data that determine their particular characteristics, these will vary depending on the type of vehicle. Example: 12v 45Ah 300A

  • – The Voltage, (12V) that informs us about the nominal voltage.
  • – The Amperage (45 Ah) measured in Amperes per hour, which is the energy it provides.
  • – The Startup Power (300A) informs us about the power peak offered at start-up.

These characteristics will vary depending on the vehicle: whether it is gasoline or diesel, whether it has a large-displacement engine or not, or whether it uses a large number of electrical accessories. It is important to know these characteristics are used to choose the best battery

WHEN TO CHANGE THE BATTERY?

  • – It does not recharge despite having been running the engine
  • – If it presents corrosions or deformations.
  • – The engine takes longer to start than usual.
  • – The alternator and voltage regulator show wear.
  • – After a frost, the vehicle does not start or it takes time to start.

CONSEQUENCES OF A BATTERY IN BAD CONDITION

Especially in adverse weather conditions, batteries may behave abnormally. The low temperatures reduce its effectiveness and the humidity in some of its parts can cause loss of power that annuls its capacity.
